Players: "Website sucks, is outdated and needs development!!! We want ways to check our EVE-Mail from work, ipods and connect to EVE with brain power..."
CCP: "OK, well hire some web developers and see what we can do instead of having our team that usually works on lag developing it."
Players: "I want more immersion in EVE, what if we could walk around in stations? I mean, this is a MMO and right now I lose my internet space exprience because I speak to spaceships"
CCP year 1: "OK, well hire some web developers and see what we can do instead of having our team that usually works on lag developing it."
CCP year 2: "This is quite a larger project than expect, we need to hire more and pull from other resources to get this off the ground."
CCP year 3: "We started working on this thing, and it turned into a massive project. We want it to be really cool so we've hired a lot of people, invested a lot of resources and are now hiring more."
Players: "We've got so many bugs in the game and need things fixed like rockets and the damned catalyst model bugging out, moving windows..."
CCP: "Well, we've done a lot of hiring and shifting of resources around and right now we don't have the resources to shift back. We'll hire more people and see what we can do."
Players: "OMGWTFBBQ I DUN WANNA PLAY A FPSMMO CONSOLE GAME! WHY ARE YOU TAKING FROM MY BELOVED EVE!?!?!? WTF FIX LAG!!!"
Omal Oma: Of the entire development team of EVE-Online, there's 7 people working on this. That's about 6% of their resources invested and they're hiring for more to work on bugs, lag, game enhancements and other projects. Thinking for a second that throwing more cooks into the CCP kitchen will fix this is just not an intelligent way to develop any piece of software. More people = more code = more room for bugs = less checks and balances. The problems that this game has do need to be fixed and past projects do need work, that's also why he said, and I'll repeat this line a few times... for the people who missed it:
Quote:
And thatęs that.
We have an aggressive hiring plan, as evident by our job listings. When those positions are filled we will be able to fully staff two additional EVE feature teams. Finding the right people with the right skills so that they can further enhance something which we have been working on for a decade already isnęt easy, but we have increased the priority on global recruiting. If you or someone you know is interested in working for CCP, now is the time to submit those CVs.

Read that... their hiring more!?
In this economy?
Commend them. ________________________________________________ <--- My in-game me. |
